Mark Mustian is the author of the novels The Return and The Gendarme, and the founder of the Word of South Festival of Literature and Music in Tallahassee, Florida.

About The Gendarme

The Gendarme, the story of a 92-year old man and his flashbacks to the Armenian Genocide, won the Gold Florida Book Award for General Fiction, was a finalist for the Dayton International Literary Peace Prize and was shortlisted for the Saroyan International Prize for Writing. It has been published in ten languages.

About the Festival

Word of South, entering its fifth year, is a festival devoted to books and music and every combination thereof. The festival has featured artists such as Ann Patchett, Sheila E, Rick Moody, Jeff VanderMeer, Bob Shacochis, Jason Isbell, Robert Olen Butler, Lauren Groff, John T. Edge, John Paul White, Rita Coolidge, and a host of others. Word of South Festival is held each April in Tallahassee, Florida’s Cascades Park.
